Unveiling Brunei’s Educational Travel Potential: Online seminar

AJC, in collaboration with the Embassy of Brunei Darussalam in Japan and Royal Brunei Airlines, co-hosted an online seminar on educational tours to Brunei.

The seminar aimed to promote educational travels to Brunei and provided the latest information about Brunei to school officials, travel industry professionals, and other stakeholders.

Background

As overseas destinations are regaining popularity for educational travels, including school trips and study tours, we held this seminar to highlight Brunei’s diverse advantages.

Key takeaways

  • Safe and English-friendly: Brunei offers a safe environment where English is widely spoken, making it an ideal destination for educational tours.
  • Diverse Programs: A variety of programs, such as school exchanges, nature exploration, and homestays, are available for educational travels.
  • Convenient Access: Royal Brunei Airlines operates four direct flights per week between Narita and Bandar Seri Begawan, providing convenient access.
  • Purpose and Passion: The guest speaker emphasized the importance of having a clear purpose and passion when planning educational tours.
  • Concrete Itinerary Examples: The guest speaker presented concrete examples of possible itineraries.
  • Warm Hospitality: The warm hospitality of the Bruneian people contributed to meaningful interactions among participants.

Participant Feedback

A post-seminar survey revealed that:

  • 97% of respondents indicated that their understanding of Brunei had deepened.
  • 94% of respondents expressed their interest in planning or conducting educational travels to Brunei in the future.

Comments from Participants

  • I didn’t know much about Brunei before, but after attending this seminar, I realized that it offers a lot of attractive options, such as homestays, school exchanges, beautiful nature, and the fact that English is widely spoken and it’s relatively close from Japan.
  • I feel reassured that there are no distractions like alcohol for educational travel to Brunei.
  • I was impressed by the attractiveness of Brunei as a country. I’m considering short-term study programs for university, junior high school, and high school students, and I feel that I can build programs from various perspectives.
  • Presentations were very helpful. Brunei has a lot to offer for educational tours, and I think there are many teachers who don’t know about it yet. I would like to share this information with our sales team so that we can create new tour plans.

Future Outlook

As information about Brunei is generally limited, many participants expressed that they learned about Brunei’s potential for the first time through this seminar. Despite the impact of the weak yen, many participants indicated their interest in planning educational tours to Brunei, suggesting that Brunei is well-positioned to become a popular destination.

Summary

The seminar successfully introduced Brunei as a new possibility for educational tours. The guest speaker’s presentation not only covered technical aspects of planning educational tours but also touched on the fundamental mindset, motivating the participants. To further promote Brunei’s potential, it is necessary to continue providing the latest information whenever opportunities arise.
