Widening Malaysian Students’ Exposure to Careers in Japan
200 Malaysian students studying in Japan were engaged in meeting recruiters from 18 Japanese and multinational companies, providing opportunity for students to get a clear picture of working in Japan.
Recruiting Talented Prospective Graduates
Japanese recruiters were highly satisfied with the event. With Japan’s labor pool shrinking, this event proved to be an opportunity for Japanese companies to hire talented, multilingual potential candidates, especially valuable for those with operations/branches in/with Malaysia.
Way Forward
Several factors contributed to the relatively small turnout compared to previous career fairs: the event coinciding with public holidays, overlapping with the examination week, arrival of a typhoon, and lower number of graduates in 2024 as students chose to defer graduation because of the pandemic. It will be crucial to timely plan future career fairs.
