The ASEAN -Japan Centre participated in “Tourism EXPO Japan 2023” held at INTEX Osaka from October 26th to 29th. The Expo was held in Osaka for the first time in four years, with exhibitors of 70 countries and regions around the world and 1,275 companies and organizations. The total number of visitors during the exhibition period, including tourism industry and general visitors was recorded as 148,062 (4 days).
・The event presented the future of an ever-evolving tourism industry, putting a focus on four key topics: “Presenting the Future of Travel,” “Paving the Way for Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan, “Introducing the New Attraction of Japan from Kansai to the World,” and “Contributing to Sustainable Development.”
・The theme of the forum for the tourism industry was “Rethink Tourism for the Future,” and a symposium and various seminars were held.
・As it is the 50th Year of ASEAN-Japan Friendship and Cooperation, tourism ministers and head of the national tourism offices joined the 6th TEJ Tourism Ministers’ Meeting and exchanged opinions of initiatives and issues in their countries.
・The AJC set up the booth with the theme of “50 Mindful Travel in ASEAN” to highlight the sustainable tourism products of ASEAN. Also, to commemorate the 50th Year of ASEAN-Japan Friendship and Cooperation, the AJC distributed information materials and hosted VR tours to let the visitors experience the ambience of ASEAN.
